CISM is a tool used by counselors to help individuals at-risk for post-traumatic stress following a critical incident. Such events are defined as any situation that causes the victim to experience unusually strong emotions, and carries the potential to interfere with his or her functioning. Ideally, CISM should be employed within 24-48 hours after a critical incident, and serve as part of a continuum of care.

That’s exactly what we do at National EAP. A variety of services are accessible to those who have suffered a loss or other tragic event as they need them. Furthermore, our licensed counselors also provide important stress debriefing for those who may be indirectly, yet similarly affected by a critical incident such as the death of a friend or co-worker, large-scale disaster, bank robbery, or other traumatic event.

Most people experience normal reactions to an abnormal event. National EAP assists individuals in their understanding of possible reactions prior to their becoming problematic at home or on the job.

Should you need our services, please don’t hestitate to call us.
